Glenn Beck Was Right!!!

advertisement

I never thought I would have to admit this, but Glenn Beck totally nailed it when he said that Obama is a racist with a deep-seated hatred of white people and/or white culture. He's done a pretty good job of covering it up so far, but his judicial nominees expose him for what he really is:

This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

Seriously. Can't a white man get a break in this country? I feel so hated when I'm not discriminated against... Well, I mean I'm technically Hispanic but that's beside the point.

Seriously, from one white man to another white man: Mr. Beck, shut the @!$%# up. Neither of us is being oppressed and you know it.

The only thing that his judicial nominations say about him is that he's fed (ha get it, fed, federal) up with the status quo in our government. And that's a thing to applaud, not criticize.

I have a possibly unrelated question.

Please forgive my ignorance, but what, if anything, is the difference between Hispanic and Latino?

I've grown up in a very homogeneous New England suburb where 95% of the people look like me, so I'm afraid I'm a bit ignorant on the matter.

Of course Glen Beck was right.

I think it is time that we male WASPs stood up! I have been deprived all my life!

Ever since I was a child, I have heard about discrimination. But never... I say NEVER have I felt it! I have been deprived!

This is profoundly unfair. We male WASPs are always the last. We are the last to be fired. We are the last to be suspected and arrested. This cannot go on...

Cruel world.....

Beck is like many shock jocks, he wants attention and says what gets attention. He then looks for excuses to back up his spur of the moment comments and pretends he thought them out. Honorable people are far less likely to get attention. There are those who are white and racist and want to justify their racism. Beck gave them what they wanted.

People do not turn to him for information or reason, they turn to Beck like any other radical to justify their tribal thinking. He is a fool leading fools feeling like they are important because there are lots of them.

This is not to say there are not blacks who are racist. There are people of all groups who are racist. It is sadly a majority in all groups. Sadly even when a group is subjected to racism they tend to respond with racism and only oppose it against their own group.

Please forgive my ignorance, but what, if anything, is the difference between Hispanic and Latino?

Well, Hispanic is a term that has historically been applied to those from the Iberian Peninsula in Europe. More recently, though, it's been applied to those from countries that constitute the former Spanish empire.

The U.S. Office of Management and Budget currently defines "Hispanic or Latino" as "a person of Mexican, Puerto Rican, Cuban, South or Central American, or other Spanish culture or origin, regardless of race".

It's not really clear, but that's the best definition can really be given.

You're right southwest... I do not know about anyone else, but it seems the Democrats in my eyes have been trying to stoop very low to the level of the Republicans. It is tough being a Democrat, you really do not know how tough it is to try and stay above the fray of a the lowly Republican who insist upon telling fairy tales, and Democrats not getting the joke all this time... but we see the joke now - the right wing...and the tide is turning, we are starting to learn from the Republicans it is better to tell fairy tales like the Republicans do, ask inane questions, and make up and or fabricate stories that are nonsense. It seems that this is what Republicans believe and the extreme right wants others to believe.

In essence we are trying to relate on a lower level saving our minds for bigger and better things....We are trying to dumb down so you will be able to understand us...at times we feel that we are close but there seems to be someone on the right that is dumber, so we must start all over again.

I for one am glad we finally have a Democrat who can pay so much lip service to Bi-partisanship and simultaneously push the most aggressive liberal agenda ever. It's like we live in Cuba.

It's great how we talk about working with the other side and then craft legislation in smoke filled rooms. We talk about reaching out to republicans but give cushy white house appointments only to left wing radicals. We talk about ending the politics of division, but pass bills with the thinnest margin of margin of victory from a down the line party vote.

I'm glad we finally got our @!$%# together. It doesn't matter how you govern, it only matters how you spin the bull @!$%# on cable news.

(AND, it's free.)

Of course not. Someone has to pay for practitioners, for medicine, for hospital beds.... It isn't free, anywhere.

In some places, Cuba for one, individuals do not pay anything directly. So it may "feel" like it is free. But the costs have to be covered by other means such as taxes, customs, ...

In most countries, health-care funding is more direct.

The oldest tradition is German. It goes back to before German unification. No! Not the recent East/West re-unification... back to the 1871 Unification under Prussian leadership of what was until then a myriad of minor states. The man who led that Unification, Count Otto von Bismarck, also led a transformation of Prussia from a rural backwater into an medium-weight industrial state. As part of that transformation, Bismarck installed a social security system for health and retirement, based on company and employee withholding. Sound familiar?

Most of Europe's social safety nets today can find their roots in Bismarck's reforms, so most have company/employee withholding.

The communication between the government and its people has for eons been...for a lack of a better word.. Lousy...

When the critics say - health care is going to cost you more money - it will... However...and I must point out a however...will it be more secure and the beneficial aspect of going through what we must in able to call ourselves civilized.. is to extend the coverage for all. It may not be a popular thing to do.. but if it makes the Insurance companies angry enough to empower through much money to their political hacks in congress to try and stop it.. then it is something the Democrats must do because no one else will do it. The Democrats are for the people.. sure... they probably get their money also in some way.. but they push against the corporations to empower the people.. As we saw in the House vote - what was it 39/40 Democrats voted against it.. these are the conservative Democrats or one could conclude their pocketing a little from the insurance companies (all alleged ) --

Health insurance is not free.. but to create a better system.. one must crack a few eggs

No.

All those EU health-care systems that get better results than the American system does... also cost less. Between one-half and two-thirds as much as the US. The least efficient still cost one-third less than the American.

Don't forget: In the absence of competition, the US health-insurance-fund managers are raking 30% off the top for shareholder dividends. Knock that down to a reasonable profit of 5%, and you have instantly reduced customer costs by twenty-five percent!

So I read the article and I have some questions.

1) Does it matter the ethnicity, skin color, sex, or religion of a judge matter? If so, why?

2) If diversity is important, should our government directly reflect our population (percent for percent)? Why?

3) Should more minorities be hired to make it 50-50 white to minorities?

4) When will we stop caring about what color a person skin is or what the ethnicity is and start judging people by their individual merits and capabilities?

1) It certainly shouldn't, but it does. Until or unless a true socio-cultural shift happens and everyone is treated both de jure and de facto equitably, it will.

2) I'd be just as happy if the government directly reflected our interests, and not those of corporatism and ideology. But that's just my take on it...

3) In regards to what? In any case, ethnic quota systems are not the answer to anything-- they don't work in practice the way they are intended to, and cause more problems than they solve. For instance, affirmative action in education would be better served by an economic rubric rather than an ethnic one.

4) Only when all sides stop using ethnicity or skin tone to frame the issues. But something like that would require a good, hard, clear-eyed look at the problems (and, to be fair, the positives) in our cultural history, and that doesn't look to be happening anytime soon.

Repoman- That maybe hard to do with most people from the south, skin color is why the republicans have lost it, they never thought a black man could have won the president even if John was older than dirt.

no but when it is vastly differnt than the population and yet there are plenty of perfectly good candidates of color, it suggests a problem. Perhaps a systemic bias in the nomination process.

question for you.. if you thought your race or group was just as intelligent and educated as anyone else.. wouldnt you want equal representation or at least close to equal?

we arent talking about taking jobs from better white people and give them to persons of color, we just dont want a person of color who is equal or better than the white guy to be over looked simply do to his skin color.

basically using stats to prove there is some racism going on. and letting everyone know we know there is racism going on and urging them to stop, without actually calling anyone a racist.

Bob Nelson-- what white culture? Is that something different that the common American culture, which is, for good or ill, thoroughly integrated with the popular culture as expressed through the electronic media?

What are the fundamental aspects of white culture that you see Bibi opposed to? What is the value differential between "white" culture and the cultures of other ethnic Americans?

Or is it not a culture thing, but merely a reaction against the shifts in social currency away from the status quo that you are arguing about? Is it not a question of "culture", but a question of identity-politics power arrangements?

I never thought I would have to admit this, but Glenn Beck totally nailed it when he said that Obama is a racist with a deep-seated hatred of white people and/or white culture. He's done a pretty good job of covering it up so far, but his judicial nominees expose him for what he really is:

And i want post in all bold anymore, now what did i say that you did not imply, did you not say Beck was right . i hope i understand you now, you were talking about the whole seed from some one else.

billy, wherever do you get the idea that modern Dems deny the Dem part in past atrocities against black Americans? I register as a Dem and I'm fully aware of the Southern Democratic Party's shameful role in this part of our history. Strom Thurmond was a Democrat. Jesse Helms was a Democrat. George Wallace was a Democrat. Do you notice the tense of the verb in those sentences? To the great credit of the Democratic Party, those people became less and less tolerated until finally they left, and good riddance. Can you guess which political party welcomed most of them with open arms? I'll give you a hint: it nearly rhymes withe "republiscum."

I guess someone here doesn't understand about learning for the past to make a 'change'... the difference between the past actions of a group of people, and learning from it to 'change' into a different path...

It is one thing to acknowledge the history, and not change ...but, in this case no one is saying the Dems have denied it all...in fact it was a truth AT ONE TIME. No one is denying it and I see you make the same argument all over the vine and are corrected over and over, which makes me think that you just have an agenda yourself......apparently some people don't want to get beyond that and move into the present which is DIFFERENT than the past...(which someone here is refusing to acknowledge)

The dangerous part isn't that they exist, it is their wacko followers that can be really dangerous..the gun toting, one tooth wonders from the sewer pits of hell, the Deliverance (Squeal like a Pig) to Ned Beatty in the original film type people, that have one cell connected to their brain stem. The only problem with sarcasm is you need to be smart enough to realize its sarcasim. It's the same dumba**es who don't realize Stephen Colbert is being sacastic when he says most of what he does...

Who else is eagerly awaiting Glenn Beck to take Jon Stewart's bait? Stewart is gonna wipe the floor with the psycho hypocrite...

Since when do we listen to or take serious, any talk out of the Asylum, Fox, or Glen F*** mouth?

Paying one iota of attention to any of them, other than a deep chuckle, is what Fox uses to turn trash into sales.

we have a strong good ole boy network down here.
there is a reason the gop adopted the "southern strategy

at least the GOP strategy did not include the "Klan Vote" . It is funny that these American holocaust denialists of what happened to African Amercians in America want to pretend that their party never was associated with racial issues....

          http://www.dailysquib.co.uk/?c=117&a=1227

Billy again, those southern conservatives that are descendant from the Jefferson Democratic party are now republican, because republicans actively pined to get their votes. That was the driving motivation for voting for civil rights legislation in the 60's.

Dred Scott, Plessy vs Ferguson...the list goes on and on....On and on... Conservative decisions. Party does not trump ideology. That is why they republicans went from the party of Lincoln to the party of stinkin.

You don't tell people on my seeds what to do. Especially when you say leave the country. You don't have that right.

Sorry Cstone you got caught in the delete.

          cstone01

Are you saying you are asking Sir to leave...uhm...Spain? or Mexico?...Is that what you are saying?

You do realize this is the www right?...

This is available to anyone anywhere in the world...

People from all over are members of the vine...and post comments.

Besides, it could very well be that the US is Sir's home country...

So, you might want to reconsider saying ignorant things like that in the future...

And, just an fyi, only 'faux patriots' tell others to leave any country...

if Beck wants to complain ? let's see.... shouldn't more than half of any political seat or bench be held by women ?? we make up about 52% of the country. Beck is a dying breed . thankfully. the last bastion of the angry lack of definition white male.

as a white woman who lives in Detroit. I really do see the other side of racism.. black on white solely because blacks are the majority here.. by 80%. Not all blacks are .. only the more ignorant ones. just as not all whites are racist ....ect... you get my drift.

I understand being angry ... but that gets neither side anywhere.

But .... until whites have been forced off the land ( like the Mexicans and native Americans have ) killed outright for it , forced to convert to another belief as whites did to blacks , Hispanics , native peoples have , shipped to other countries for profit , separated from family or not allowed to marry because you are property , forced into labor as said property , .................. a mulititude of things minorities have suffered at the whim of white majority ( including gays ) ?? until then they / we have no room to belly ache.

Whites have been king of the hill for so long they forget that in that game no one stays king forever. and IMO it's this slow loss of power . this loss of self imposed importance which is really reality sinking in that has many whites flustered. Defining themselves for so long in this social structure that they don't know who they are without it.

I hope this makes some sense. lol.

This country is a melting pot.

I figure the day we get a black/asian/hispanic/white overweight myopic disabled Atheist lesbian as president ? we'll know hate is a thing of the past... till then we have work to do. It would be even funnier if God choose to appear as such once a bigot kicks the bucket !! probably what Beck will see.

Glenn Beck is a raving lunatic. Any Beck constituents need to have their head checked. Personally I'm sick and tired of hearing the race card issue. Everyone should shut the f up about it and lets get on to serious issues.

          30 seconds, is that all?

Becky - what can I write about him that many of us have not stated? He's a fine upstanding person with the lack of ability to humanize himself? He has to endure the critics who seem to be out to get him,... and many pray that someone would? I find it really tough to say anything that would raise him to the highest of all pedestals.. WAIT!! The pedestal he shares with LimBAH! it is a mighty small pedestal indeed.. so Becky's head is stuck in ..... .
